Vellarikka Pachadi

Ingredients for Vellarikka Pachadi


1    Vellarikka / Cucumber                ½ kg
2    Curd A small cup
3     Salt
For Grinding 
4    Coconut Grated                       1 small cup
5    Mustard Seeds                         ½ tsp
6    Curry Leaves                           A few
7    Green Chill                               2 or 3
8    Ginger                                      A small piece
9    Garlic                                       1 or 2 clove
10   Curd                                       1 small cup
For  Seasoning
11 Coconut Oil                 2 tsp
12 Mustard Seeds            ½ tsp
13 Dry Red Chilly             1 or 2
14 Curry Leaves               A Few
 

Preparation

  1. Clean and cut the cucumber in to small pieces after peel off the skin 
  2. Grind Coconut ,Mustard Seeds, Curry Leaves ,Green Chilly, Ginger ,Garlic and Half of the Curd 

Directions  

  1. Cook the cucumber pieces in some water  - Add Salt when  cucumber is half cooked
  2. Add grated coconut mixture in the cucumber
  3. When it start to boil switch off the flame and add rest of the curd 
  4. Heat oil in a small pan and splutter mustard seeds, dry chilly and curry leaves,  Add this in to Pachadi .

 Note:

  • We can Add Curry Leaves,Green Chilly, Ginger and Garlic while cooking cucumber if so don’t grind it with coconut that is up to your taste
  • We can use Beetroot  instead  of  cucumber to make beetroot  pachadi.
