Parippu curry





Ingredients :

Toor dhal                  -1/2 cup
Turmeric powder  - a pinch
Squash                      -1(cut into cubes)

Salt as required

For grinding

Grated coconut - 1/2 cup
Cumin seeds     - 1/2 tsp
Green chilli       - 3


For seasoning

Ghee           - 2 tbsp
Mustard       - 3/4 tsp
Red chilli      - 2
Curry leaves - few

Preparation

Grind grated coconut, cumin seeds,turmeric powder and green chilly to a smooth paste. Keep it aside.

Method
  • Pressure cook dal with squash just enough water adding salt and turmeric powder. Mash it well and keep it aside.
  • Add a cup of water along with the grounded paste to the smashed dal. Simmer and bring it to boil. Check for salt.
  • Heat ghee, add mustard seeds, when it splutters, add red chilly and curry leaves.
  •  Pour this seasoning over the parippu curry .
